I was fairly new to Jackson Elementary myself when Lindsay and her sweet family moved to Morgan Hill in January of 2000. I'm not sure how the conversation came up, but somehow we both discovered that we were (slightly) obsessed with the new phenomenon, Harry Potter. Our love for the raven haired boy brought us so close that I'm pretty sure I never went home and instead spent all my time with her. It was her family that I attended my first sacrament meeting with, went to Girl's Camp with, received my first Book of Mormon from, and eventually developed a testimony through. I like to think that Harry Potter led me to the Church, and by that, I mean the spirit.
Anyways, long tangent. So, Lindsay and I were able to receive our endowments at the same session this weekend. While we were waiting in the dressing room, she leans over to me and whispers,
"You know when Fred and George try to scare Ron about trying on the sorting hat in the first book. They go on and on about wrestling a troll or something. Well, I feel a little like that right now. I have no idea what is going to happen, but everyone keeps telling me scary stories. I know it won't be like that, but I can't help but feel a little nervous. "
Lindsay, this is why we're friends. Now. And always. Happy Belated Birthday.
